Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb (675 g) salmon fillet, in one piece, skin removed
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) wasabi paste OR powder
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) rice vinegar
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) dark brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F (215 C). Line an 8-inch (20-cm) square pan with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Place salmon in the pan. In a small bowl, mix together wasabi paste, soy sauce, rice vinegar, fresh ginger and brown sugar. Reserve 2 tsp (10 mL) of the mixture.
  3. Pour remaining sauce over the fish. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until just done.
  4. When cooked, pour the reserved wasabi sauce over fish. Serve with rice.
